Paris through Others’ Eyes

While I was living in Paris last year, my friends Roger and Andrea were among the visitors. I met Roger Kizik about ten years ago. Actually I discovered Roger’s art before I knew him. I had bought several of his watercolors of boats in bold blues, oranges, and red. I recognized the locations of the moorings, but his art helped me see those rivers and boats in a new way. It was the same when he came to Paris. Walking alongside him and Andrea, I saw things I wouldn’t have otherwise. I had strolled past Petrossian Café on rue de l’Université in the 7th arrondissement many times, for example, but it was only after seeing his rendition of Petrossian’s signature tin that the famous caviar made a deep impression on me.Through Kizik’s eyes, the tin itself swims in a sea of caviar.
