In many respects I was in another world when the horrific events rocked Paris. I was traveling in Cuba, disconnected from the Internet and with no easy means of communication with the rest of the world. That bubble was pierced when I overheard people talking about Paris with grave expressions on their faces. I tuned into the BBC and learned the nightmarish details. I was heartsick. I was worried about friends, a city, and a way of life that I love. People have asked if I feel reluctant about going back to Paris. My answer is absolutely not. And when I return, I will resume my routine of exploring markets, frequenting cafés and restaurants, and strolling through public spaces.

Hello Marjorie!
I happened to spot your Markets of Paris book recently in my local library. My husband and I will take our first trip to Paris in June 2016! Your book is such a delight! We love food markets and plan to prepare many of our own meals while in Paris. We have traveled to Europe several times, and always rent an apartment to “live more like the locals”! We will be staying 2 weeks in the 5th, and thanks to your book, and website, are already getting to know the markets! I was delighted to see you reside in Cambridge. I am a painter and have maintained a Studio in Boston’s SoWa Arts district for 11 years. Have you been? I hope you will visit sometime and come say,”Bonjour”! Thank you for all your fabulous efforts to share the Markets of Paris with us. I love that your book is the perfect size to take along, and it’s design/photos a treat for the eyes! Warm Regards! Ellen Rolli
Thank you, Ellen! I’m delighted that the book is inspiring you and that soon you will have a chance to put it to use as you explore Paris. Wishing you a good trip!
