London’s Borough Market in the Southwark neighborhood is packed with fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads, honeys, food stalls, and customers who appreciate them. Roughly 130 traders do an admirable job of catering to the hungers of locals and visitors. Unlike markets in Paris where people are doing their basic food shopping, the emphasis at Borough Market is more on ready-to-eat foods and gourmet delicacies. The rumble of trains is nearly drowned out by the enthusiastic chatter of shoppers discussing which foods to try next.
Details:
Full Market hours: Wednesday & Thursday 10 am-5 pm; Friday 10 am-6 pm; Saturday 8 am-5 pm.
Located at 8 Southwark Street in London (closest Tube stop is London Bridge)

To me Borough Market is really good at covering many customer segments: meat lovers, vegans, gourmet people, eco/regional fetishists, snobs, tourists etc. This is due in my opinion to the very mix of the products, the setting and of course the vendors. My eyes were wide open the whole time.
And here is my post on this great market: http://askan.biz/2014/04/21/borough-market-london-uk/
And by the way: Thanks for all the posts on markets!
Hi! I really appreciate your comments about Borough Market and also your sharing the link to your post. Good pix too–always a challenge to capture scenes at a crowded market. Well done! Again, thanks for your kind comments & for making contact. ~Marjorie
Hello,A great place to stay and not expensive at all is the Lux Hotel. It is loacetd between Place de La Nation and Bastille, facing the charming Courteline Garden, with easy metro access, metro line 6 direct to the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. The metro is less than 100 meters away the hotel. Very safe location. Rooms are clean, fully equipped, with shower and free wi-fi. The price for 2 persons is between 50 and 59 euro.
Fantastic and most wonderful! When is book out!!!!

I think the Chopin Hotel would perfectly fit your buedgt and location. You have bedrooms at 76euros for one night and it is located not to far away from Gare du Nord but in a very cool neighborhood. . hotel-chopin. com/You have an english presentation at the bottom of the home page, plus rates are in the section called tarifs .
