The median plaza that runs down boulevard Richard Lenoir near the Bastille gets good use. On Thursdays and Sundays it’s the location of the popular Bastille food market. But on Saturdays it hosts a completely different set of vendors who sell art and crafts. If you come here, you’ll have a chance to meet the artists themselves and see a range of art styles and prices.
Pick up a gift for a fraction of the cost of something from a gallery. I bought 2 watercolors that remind me of the Parisian markets and a certain pipe-smoking artist whenever I gaze at them. If you can’t make it to the Bastille on a Saturday, then your other option for a weekend crafts market is along boulevard Edgar Quinet in the 14th arrondissement on Sundays.
