I love hearing from you about your experiences at markets. I’ve received emails where I could practically hear the jubilant cries of travelers who sought out flea markets (“I got two awesome vintage purses and a vintage rosary…at great prices. And my husband found a great leather journal from an artist!”) or food markets (“I drifted along the streets of my dreams!”). Comments like “Your guide was stashed in my purse the entire trip to Paris” make my heart sing. I’m eager to hear about anything that makes a deep impression. Yes, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Occasionally you tell me about changes at the markets. I’m especially grateful for that sort of information so I can keep others informed. For example, I recently heard from Jen that the Paris flea market at Porte de Vanves in the 14th arrondissement is open Saturdays and Sundays from about 7:30 am until only 1 pm. Monsieur Pascal Bensidoun, whose company manages the market, clarified that antiques sellers at Porte de Vanves pack up by 1 pm, however some of the flea market vendors (whose stalls are interspersed with antique sellers) remain open later. Still, I strongly recommend that if you’re interested in exploring the Porte de Vanves flea market–which is one of my favorites–timing matters, get there early.
Dixon Long and I worked extremely hard to ensure that the details in Markets of Paris, 2nd ed. are accurate and up-to-date. But every once in a while things change. The Mairie de Paris website is a superb resource. Yet it doesn’t cover all the markets that we include in Markets of Paris. So I’ve added a page to this website called “Market Updates” where I post any changes that I discover and can corroborate. It’s a short list (thank goodness, things don’t change that much at these markets) and a helpful one for anyone who doesn’t want to risk showing up and missing the fun.
To you enthusiastic travelers out there, please know how much I appreciate hearing from you. Keep me informed of your market adventures. And if you stumble across anything that differs from what we report in the book, I’d be grateful if you would email me. I’m equally interested in hearing about what went well as what didn’t. So feel free to convey anything that excited or perhaps disappointed you. Your experiences will help keep other treasure-hunters informed. Thanks for keeping in touch!

Good morning, Marjorie
As a first time visitor to your site, I am very pleased with your info. I was transported back to Paris Flea Markets reading here.
Question: what is the mane of The Saturday Market located at the last stop of one on the subways?? Very large; some permanent shops open each day of the week; very high end things and tourist trinkets (all in between). I found wonderful old chandelier glass there.
David
Hi David,
Thanks for your note and I’m happy that the posts help bring you back to Paris. You might be thinking about the Clignancourt market (also known as Marché aux Puces Saint-Ouen)? It has the full range from fancy to fanciful.
All best,
Marjorie
